An imaginative razzle-dazzle for the holidays, Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker was a fresh, modern transformation of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, the Duke Ellington arrangement, and the persuasive rhythm of the orchestra and step dancing in sync.

 

Concerts were performed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Conductor Ken Lam, Step Afrika! (new commission), and Narrator Shannan E. Johnson
