African-American Innovation

Celebrating Black History Month, these concerts highlighted the innovations of Elijah McCoy, Duke Ellington and Harriet Tubman. With musical selections by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, James P. Johnson, and traditional spirituals, the accomplishments of these innovators came to life in an inspiring concert experience for students and families.

 

Concerts were 0erformed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Conductor Ken Lam, Narrator Shannan E. Johnson, Baltimore City College Choir and Choir Director Marcus Smith, Sopranos Marquita Lister and JoAnna Ford, Break Dancers Rodolpho Justo and Brandon Rapp, Images of African-American Innovators; Lobby Exhibit was designed in collaboration with the National Great Blacks in Wax Museum.
